Hi, my name is Maeve, and I am the creator of Upcycled. I am a Junior at the North Carolina School of Science and Math. I’ve always loved the environment, but only recently in my Environmental Science class did I decide it was time to take action. My entire life, I’ve sewn and been into fashion, but today I have a hard time buying new clothes due to the guilt I feel for the environment.

People are not often exposed to how much clothing, especially fast fashion items, is thrown into developing nations. Thrift stores cannot sell all the clothes they receive and have to throw the majority of them away.

My solution is to create clothing from thrifted textiles and reclaimed scraps. Every piece of clothing I create gives life to old textiles; additionally, each piece is different and not mass-produced. I only have one of each clothing item due to my limited materials, so if you like what you see, buy it!
